In April of 1996 Bsp. Hercules Montes attended the National Convention of ministers of Faith Tabernacle Inc., held in Cebu City. It was during this time that the elders of the local church of Faith Tabernacle Church in Davao City extended their invitation to him, to pastor them due to the leadership crisis that happened in their church. Having no plans to transfer assignment, Pastor Herley consulted the Lord with much prayer, as well as his father the late Rev. Rizalino B. Montes who was his overseer in Samar at that time, eventually he accepted the offer. He resigned as the senior pastor of Catbalogan Christian Center in Catbalogan, Western Samar and immediately moved with his family in Davao City.
On May 19, 1996, The Household of Faith held its first service in Merco Restaurant, Bolton St., Davao City with over 30 people in attendance. It didn’t take so long that Merco’s function room could no longer hold the people attending the services every Sunday. The leadership decided to find a bigger place. In 1997 the church moved to the old building of the Holy Child Learning Center at Jacinto St. It was during this time that HOF started to plant daughter churches in the nearby municipalities, cities and provinces. The ministry expanded that it branched out not only in Southern Mindanao but also in Northern Mindanao as well.
Since HOF doesn’t own its church building, the church has to move to another venue again because the Holy Child decided to renovate the old building that was used as the Household of Faith Church. So in January of 2000 they found and moved to Center Theater as the new location of the church at C.M. Recto Avenue, Davao City.
Due to leadership squabble of Faith Tabernacle Inc., Pastor Herley, together with the leadership team, didn’t want to take part of the problems of the organization and so decided to incorporate The Household of Faith. So in June 4, 2003, The Household of Faith in the Philippines, Inc. was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In 2005, Pastor Herley Montes was exposed to the G12 church growth strategy and implemented it to the church. At first, it was not very effective but with much prayer and perseverance, the effort was rewarded. The church attendance doubled in number especially with the youth ministry. So in August 2006 the leadership of the church decided to rent the New Davao Theater which is just adjacent to the Center Theater. The Household of Faith now rents both theaters for church, offices and training center.
By God’s grace, today, The Household of Faith is considered to be one of the fastest growing churches in Davao City with 15 other churches established.
The Household of Faith exists with the purpose to have passion for God and compassion for people. Its vision is to win the lost and to make disciples. Its goal is to make every member a leader. The Household of Faith also endeavors to preserve the doctrine and principles of Christian living transmitted to as Full Gospel Evangelical, and to prepare the way for the evangelization of the whole Philippines and foreign lands.
